Wentworth Hotel

"We had a short window of 10 working days in January 2020 when the hotel was closed for refurbishment and to update our 30 old year hot water system. This involved taking out the two existing boilers and three hot water storage tanks situated in the cellars of the hotel, accessed only by a narrow passage, and then installing the new boilers and storage tanks and control panels. The Columbus team worked long hours to achieve the end result and at all times kept the hotel informed about progress. Any problems were speedily resolved. The hotel re-opened on time and any teething problems were quickly dealt with. Damian and his team were exceedingly professional and kept the hotel informed of progress at all times."

With the hotel organising a two week shut down for renovation works, they decided to upgrade their plant room.

Acting as principle designer we initially undertook a R & D survey which highlighted areas of asbestos, Ipswich Insulations where tasked with the safe removal. Following the client accepting our design, we were tasked with completing the strip out works and the installation of a new plant room, with two AIC Nesta boilers tasked with providing heat for three AIC Silox tank-in-tank cylinders, and the existing heating system, with our system being protected by a PHX.

As part of this project we installed a new suitably sized gas main, new plant room ventilation and new flues rising through an existing chimney.

Although the deadline was extremely tight, through long hours and teamwork, we managed to deliver the project.
